Celebrating a (Truly) Green St. Patrick’s Day

We love St. Patrick’s Day! What a great time of the year for family, friends, and heritage! Here at EcoChic, we’ve rounded up 3 ways to celebrate in sustainable style.

1. Green beer gets really green

There are a lot of great micro and craft breweries out there that are working towards a triple bottom line (people, planet, profits). This St. Patrick’s Day, have a sustainable brew and support their efforts. TriplePundit.com’s page on green beers is a great place to start (don’t worry about the dateline; the article is still a fabulous primer on sustainable breweries).

2. Forego the noisemakers

Because when was the last time you saw a St. Patrick’s Day celebration that needed noisemakers to get loud? All that stuff–the cute green-glitter deely-boppers; the green-foil-covered top-hats–is hard to recycle. Consider re-using last year’s getup. Or, just put on a green t-shirt. We know you have one lying around.

3. Go outside!

For those of us who live in warmer climes, what better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than to be among the greenery of the outdoors? Have a picnic! Go for a walk! Then have a green–we mean sustainable–beer.

4. Try some vegan recipes

…Like this mouth-watering Cashew-Coconut Vegan “Irish Creme” recipe. Bailey’s, eat your heart out! And for snacks, try these really amazing Matcha Mint Patties. Both vegan, both very, very St. Patrick’s Day.

What did we miss? Are there other ways you can think of to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Tell us in the comments below!
