We design all of our wood furniture in-house to show off the gorgeous reclaimed marine-grade teak that we find in Southeast Asia. Boards from different vessels are combined for a unique rainbow effect in each piece. Everything is cut and assembled by hand and finished with organic water-based sealant to ensure that the quality is first-class. The white framing gets a fresh coat of zero-emission paint.

True to its name, the Even Keel Dining Chair is a timeless and reliable piece of eco-friendly furniture. Solid wood construction gives it heft and durability, and there is no assembly required. Place a set around your table in the breakfast nook. Use one as an occasional chair in your living room or as a desk chair in the den.

The chair’s beachy vibe and natural water-resistance also make it a smart choice for outdoor decorating. You can complement the Even Keel Dining Chair with other pieces from this collection, such as the Second Wind Side Table. If you’re looking for a more sleek, modern style, consider the Gangway Dining Chair with its black iron accents.

EcoChic reclaimed wood furnishings are handcrafted from Southeast Asian fishing boats. The wood originally comes from teak plantations in Java, which are managed for sustainability by a state-owned forestry company. Because the wood is marine-grade, it is more durable and resistant to moisture and condensation, and it adapts to changes in weather and season.

The reclaimed wood used in EcoChic pieces is selected by hand from fishing boats that are no longer water-safe. We only use boards that are 100% straight and intact, with no warping or damage. The unique weathered paint is preserved and enhanced through careful cutting and sanding. To protect its color and texture, we finish every piece with a water-based organic semi-gloss sealant.

Some EcoChic furnishings are accented with fresh white paint — we use Benjamin Moore Natura, a 100% acrylic paint with zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and zero emissions. Some pieces also use reclaimed iron that comes from dismantled bridges.

Cleaning is simple — just wipe gently with soap and water. Do not use strong liquid cleaners.

EcoChic furnishings, made from highly durable marine-grade reclaimed wood, are naturally water-resistant and stand up well to heavy use. As a result, our pieces are perfect for outdoor spaces and for high-wear interior applications like tabletops and seating.

Each piece is treated with a water-based organic semi-gloss finish. Low in harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds), this sealant is comparable to oil-based varnish for its high resistance to abrasion, water, and solvents. As the sealant cures, the molecules become cross-linked in a lattice-like pattern that is much more durable than the single-strand bonds formed by conventional water-based finishes. The semi-gloss sealant gives surfaces a very slight shine.

Every EcoChic piece is one-of-a-kind because our reclaimed fishing boat wood is a natural and unique material that can’t be duplicated. Our product images capture the essentials of each piece, but they can’t show all the possible variations in wood grain, color, texture, and overall appearance.

To create consistency between pieces, we combine the boatwood we find into color schemes. When you order a product from a particular color scheme, you can be confident that the product you receive will look similar in color, although not identical, to the one pictured. Two pieces from the same color scheme will coordinate nicely. And of course, you can mix and match between color schemes as well.

If a particular product is available in more than one color scheme, you can see the color options by clicking the CHANGE COLOR button. If you don’t see the button, then the color scheme pictured is the only one available.
