With its wildly colored boatwood presented in a sleek black frame, the Gangway Dining Chair can go anywhere and still look stylish. From a minimalist pied-à-terre to a lavish penthouse, from a cozy café to an upscale restaurant, this reclaimed wood chair is never out of place.
The panache of painted wood comes from Southeast Asian fishing boats — when the old coat of color starts to look worn, their owners brush on a new one. We take pride in searching for the most interesting finishes and putting together bold color combinations.
Once the boatwood is chosen, it comes to our local workshops to be transformed into eco-friendly furnishings. Like every EcoChic piece, the Gangway Dining Chair is an in-house design manufactured by hand. Boards are cut and assembled, and the black frame is fabricated from reclaimed bridge iron.
Building our chairs from marine-grade teak means that they are very durable and well suited for high-use situations. The wood is naturally water-resistant, and we also protect it with a finish of organic water-based sealant. So don’t hesitate to use the Gangway Dining Chair on your sidewalk patio or rooftop deck.
We have several other styles of dining chairs, including the Even Keel Dining Chair with white wood framing, and the Sargasso Dining Chair with natural wood accents. Rest assured that whatever you choose, these heirloom furnishings are made to last.
