Like the hull of a boat resting on a calm sea, the Stargazer Mirror juxtaposes the worn elegance of reclaimed wood against an ever-changing reflective surface. This original and versatile piece brings the languor of the tropics into any space.
The fishing boats of Southeast Asia are known for their colorful painted hulls, which liven up shorelines near the equator. This beautiful wood is too precious to go to waste once the boats can no longer put out to sea. We are fortunate to be able to pick and choose the best reclaimed planks for use in our eco-friendly décor.
The Stargazer Mirror is constructed by hand from these solid wood planks, which are artfully sanded to bring out the contrasting colors in the paint layers beneath the surface. The frame is then finished with a coat of organic water-based sealant to protect it.
The marine-grade teak is a very durable wood and naturally water-resistant, making it hardy enough for outdoor use. Gazing into the finished product, you will no doubt catch glimmers of sunlight and starlight, reminding you of the mirror’s provenance.
The Stargazer features an unbroken paint finish all the way around. For examples of our mosaic-framed mirrors, have a look at the Compass Rose and the Apocalypso.
